dog hydrogen peroxide vomit
will hydrogen peroxide harm light colored carpet when used to try to remove pet vomit stain.?

My dog threw up on my new plush carpet. It was the color of his Dog Food, a reddish brown color. I got it up immediately after he threw up but it left a stain that will not come up.. I have cleaned with a new hoover carpet cleaner several times and it still shows up when the carpet is almost dry.I do not want to use oxy clean due to the fact that when I use a black light to see if a pet has had an accident on my carpet the oxy cleaned area glows bluish white. I have heard that hydrogen peroxide will remove the stain. I am afraid to use it on my new carpet as the spot is in the middle of my bedroom floor.

Hi-
I actually have the same problem but with a cat that insists on throwing up whenever he gets the chance. I think because you have already used a chemical rug cleaner that the hydrogen peroxide will not work.
Might I suggest(if you can)that you take Baking Soda and make a thick paste out of it, leave it on the stained area until it dries, then vacuum it up. You may have to do this several times. You will also have to do it on the reverse side of the rug. The Baking Soda will absorb the smells & the staining chemicals left behind, but this takes awhile. The great thing about the Baking Soda is that you can see from the color how much you are getting out of the carpet. I have Oriental rugs(both 100% wool & blends)and this has worked for me, without removing any colors from the rugs themselves. I hope it will work for you. It is also non-toxic in case your pet likes to sniff & eat it, like my cat does. I know, totally gross.
